The
McKay-Dee Family Medicine Residency is a fully accredited three-year family
practice program in a community hospital setting. It is affiliated with the
University of Utah Department of Family and Preventative Medicine but is
independently administered and staffed by local faculty and personnel.
The McKay-Dee Family Practice residents traditionally
have a high degree of camaraderie and mutual support. At annual retreats,
residents and their spouses take time away from clinical responsibilities to
deal with family and personal development issues. The staff organizes informal
sports, outdoor activities, and social engagements for residents and companions.
The importance of personal and family life is stressed in the residency program.
Since its beginning 36 years ago, the McKay-Dee Family Medicine Residency program has trained
over 200 physicians now practicing in rural and
urban communities.
